Cui Zhe_14-10-11October 19 - The powerlifting world record claimed by China's Cui Zhe at the Eighth China National Games for the disabled earlier this week will not be ratified due to the fact that the organisers for the event did not have the required number of Category 1 referees on duty during the attempt for it to be valid.

The Beijing 2008 Paralympic silver medallist, who has dysphoria, which is an anxious emotion due to physical state - took the first powerlifting gold medal of the competition in Hangzhou by lifting 106.5kg after three successful lifts.

It was a remarkable achievement from the Asian Para Games champion who weighed in at 0.3kg overweight for the contest but took drastic action to make the legal weight, which included cutting her hair.

But despite thinking that she had broken the world record, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) confirmed to insideworldparasport that it would not stand due to the refereeing technicality.

However, Zhe holds on to her gold, while Guangdong's Chen Meijiao keeps the silver and Guo Lingling of Hebei the bronze.

Zhe though, will take heart from the stunning performance and remains a strong gold medal contender at the London 2012 Paralympic Games where 200 competitions made up of 120 men and 80 women compete across 20 medal events at the ExCeL in London's Docklands.
