Georg Streif, the head coach of the German men's taekwondo team, led a session as part of an online training camp held in Japan.

The move continued the friendship between the German Taekwondo Union and the Japanese city Toyohashi.

Members of the German men's team visited the city last year and were greeted with a warm welcome at the airport.

The international bond has grown since then which led to Streif's involvement in the camp.

Taking place on Zoom, the camp was organised by Sport City Toyohashi for the Kishukai Toyohashi taekwondo club.

It meant that the friendly cooperation between both parties could continue despite the current restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Germany has so far qualified one athlete for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which have been postponed until next year because of the global health crisis.

Alexander Bachmann, the under-87 kilograms world champion from 2017, has qualified in the men's over-80kg division.
