The men's team, who secured bronze at Beijing in 2008, took top spot by defeating Germany 76-65 in the gold medal match.

Germany fought back in the second quarter pulled it back to within eight points at the half with as the score stood at 49-41 at the midway point but Britain showed their class in the second-half as Bywater and Munn finished with 30 points each to secure the title for the first time in 16 years with a 76-65 win.

"I thought it was a magnificent team performance we stuck to our game plan and our disciplines and it showed," said head coach Murray Treseder.

"Resting Simon Munn in other games of the tournament certainly showed as I thought he had a staggering game for a 43-year-old.

"All the guys contributed very well and I'm very proud of each one of them and delighted to take home the top prize."

In the men's bronze medal match, Spain took third spot as they claimed a 71-65 win over Poland.

Meanwhile in the women's bronze medal match, Britain claimed an impressive seeing 60-47 win over France.

The team however stepped up in the second quarter to go into half time with a 33-21 lead and their continued their dominance in the second half to take bronze with a 60-47 win.

"It was a good performance but we really should have beaten them a lot easier than we did," said women's head coach, Garry Peel

"We went ahead in the first quarter then we switched off and made real hard work of it and had to use the full court press all the way through the game to keep the French from scoring.

"But I'm pleased we came back and won the bronze."

In the women's final Germany, the Beijing 2008 Paralympic silver medallists, beat the Netherlands 48-42 to take gold.

The tournament was the last major event before the Paralympics and also a qualifier for next year's Games so both of Britain's team's will be delighted at leaving the completion with a podium finish.
