Czech snowboard and Alpine skier Ester Ledecka has been named as the country’s winter sports athlete of the year for the fourth time in her career.

Ledecka, who memorably won both the snowboard and super-G titles at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics, has enjoyed another successful season.

The 25-year-old secured a maiden Alpine Ski World Cup title for the first time when triumphing at Lake Louise in Canada.

She secured two further podium finishes during the season, across downhill and Alpine combined events.

Ledecka finished second in the season’s overall downhill standings, as well as placing third in the Alpine combined leaderboard.

Despite her focus on Alpine skiing events during the season, Ledecka claimed a victory and second place finish in her only two snowboard races.

Ledecka received 41 votes from the jury to be awarded the Czech winter sports athlete of the year prize.

She comfortably won the award ahead of last year’s winner Eva Samkova, with the snowboarder placing second with six votes.

Cross-country skier Kateřina Razýmová received one vote for the honour.

Ledecka was also named as the Czech Alpine skier of the year, with her coach Tomáš Bank also among those honoured.

"I am very happy with the victory," Ledecka said.

"The entire past season was a success.

"I’d like to thank my whole team, which did a fantastic job.

"I always say that, but that's just the way it is."

Ledecka has now won the award on four occasions and is only three behind record winner Kateřina Neumannová, the former cross-country skiing star.

Samková was named winner of the snowboarding athlete of the year prize, while Razýmová was the cross-country skiing winner.

The awards event also saw prizes given to Roman Koudelka as the best ski jumper and Tomáš Portyk, who secured the Nordic combined award.
