Softball Europe has announced its international calendar for 2021, including five World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Cup qualification events.

The calendar for 2021 features eight European Championships, five of which will serve as WBSC World Cup qualifiers in different age-categories.

Ledenice in the Czech Republic is set to host the 2021 Men’s European Softball Championship, scheduled for June 21 to 26.

The event will serve as a qualifier for the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup 2022 in Auckland in New Zealand, with the top two teams progressing.

Friuli Venezia Giulia in Italy is then due to stage the 2021 Women’s European Softball Championship from July 4 to 10, just weeks before softball returns to the Olympic programme in Tokyo.

A place at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham is guaranteed for the winner of the women's European contest.

Softball Europe has added two new events in 2021, both of them World Cup qualifiers.

The under-12 mixed event will be played at the beginning of the softball season, in April or May, and will be the qualifier for the Under-12 Mixed Softball World Cup 2021.

The under-23 men’s qualifier is set to be held from July 12 to 17 in Havlíčkův Brod in the Czech Republic, along with the Under-18 and Under-16 Men’s European Championships.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Under-18 Women's European Championship has been moved to July 19 to 24 2021 and will be a qualifier for the 2022 edition of the age-category’s World Cup.

The first European Championship of 2021 is set to be in the mixed slowpitch category, due to be played in Colorno in Italy from June 15 to 19.

The third European Softball Masters, planned for October 27 to 30, concludes the 2021 calendar.

All of next year's tournaments are due to be closely monitored and will only be played if health and safety restrictions allow it, Softball Europe said.
