Murray, from Leamington Spa, who is the current world number one, was there to advise youngsters on how to make it at the highest level of their chosen sport, as well as to share his experience of training ahead of London 2012, where he is aiming for gold.

A number of schoolchildren across Coventry and Warwickshire took part in the event, which was organised by CSW Sport in conjunction with Sport England's national Playground to Podium scheme.

They were given the chance to experience a variety of activities, including wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, table tennis and athletics, and Murray said: "Events like this are great from the point of view that they give young people the opportunity to try sports, and disability sports in particular, they might not otherwise have the chance to experience."

Playground to Podium is a dedicated initiative designed to identify and nurture disabled young people and disabled adults with the potential to be elite athletes in one of six chosen sports - athletics, boccia, football, swimming, table tennis and wheelchair basketball.

It comes following a consultation with landscape partners Youth Sport Trust, Paralympics GB, UK Sport and a review of existing programmes and initiatives, to introduce a framework to enhance existing player pathways and provide increased opportunities to achieve at the top end of performance.
