The International Committee for the Mediterranean Games (CIJM) met virtually for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic begun.

CIJM President Amar Addadi, the Executive Committee and Commission Presidents met on a teleconference for two hours. 

They talked about the coronavirus pandemic and how it affected sport in the Mediterranean.

The Mediterranean Games in the Algerian city of Oran, moved from 2021 to June 25 to July 5 2022, was also discussed.

The decision to postpone the event was made at the end of March "due to the unprecedented situation of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic."

It would also have been held in close proximity to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which have been moved to 2021. 

Also on the agenda was the Mediterranean Beach Games, the annual calendar of meetings, and the CIJM Executive Committee and Commission meeting schedule.

It was agreed to hold another virtual Executive Committee meeting on June 3.
