The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Scoring Commission held two online sessions with more than 200 scorers from around the world.

Due to high demand, WBSC Scoring Commission chairperson Anna Maria Paini took the decision to split the intended session into two different events.

A total of 98 baseball, softball and baseball5 scorers participated in the first session, with a further 102 taking part in the second session.

The global workshop provided a preview for upcoming seminars, with many scheduled over the next few months while sporting activity is suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It gave officials around the world the chance to review plays and rules while also going over controversial scoring decisions.

General feedback from participants was very positive, with only 13 per cent of scorers attending the first session considering the lesson to be too advanced for their level.

The review consisted of three scoring videos, with only three per cent of scorers in the second session finding it too advanced.

Scorers work on the scoreboards in baseball, softball and baseball5 games.

WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari recently said that baseball and softball needs to be at the heart of the return of sport after the COVID-19 pandemic.
