South Korea's capital city Seoul will hold a three-state esports tournament in November, also hosting East Asian giants China and Japan.

It was confirmed last week by the South Korea Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (SKMCST) that the competition could be played online without a live audience if the COVID-19 pandemic continues through to late 2020, as reported by Esport Observer.

A spokesman for SKMCST said: "We can confirm that we will have the tournament in November, but considering the pandemic situation, we are also considering [hosting] the tournament online."

The tournament will feature four esports titles over PC, mobile and other categories, but which games will be played have not been decided yet.

Hosts South Korea will be able to choose one of the games played.

SKMCST also confirmed that from 2021 onwards, the organisation is expected to expand competitions to other parts of Asia and plans to push esports towards being one of the official sports of the Olympics.
