French national coach Alexandre Biamonti has featured in an online video offering karate lessons during the coronavirus pandemic.

The video has been promoted by the French Karate Federation.

The workout is aimed at providing people with the opportunity to practice karate within their home during the lockdown period.

The video focuses on athletes’ movement and achieving a good body shape, while preparing athletes to be reactive.

Beginning with a warm-up, the video then moves on to outline a series of exercises athletes can achieve within their homes.

Biamonti, a four-time world and 16-time European champion, leads the workout.

“In karate, movement is one of the fundamentals for acquiring good technique,” the French Karate Federation said.

“This is why Alexandre Biamonti, coach of the France team and former karateka, multiple medallist at international competitions, offers training dedicated to this theme.

“A session and advice that you can apply from home, at home.”

A similar series has been launched by United States’ karate athlete Sakura Kokumai, who will be hosting 30 minute karate training sessions on Instagram.

Kokumai, who has qualified for the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, will hold one session per week.

Episodes will be broadcast on April 29 and May 6, with Kokumai’s series receiving support from Panasonic.

Kokumai won gold in the women’s kata competition at last year’s Pan American Games in Lima.
