The Nordic Judo Championships in Reykjavik have been postponed from April to September due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Competition was originally due to take place in the Icelandic capital on April 25 and 26. 

It has now been moved to September 12 and 13 as the pandemic worsens, with just under 893,000 people infected worldwide and more than 45,000 deaths. 

Iceland has reported 1220 cases and two deaths. 

The Nordic Judo Championships are an annual event that features athletes from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and the Faroe Islands.

Organisers said further details about the rescheduled competition will be announced soon. 

Like all sports, judo has been heavily impacted by the pandemic.

The International Judo Federation have called off all of their events until April 30, including the Ekaterinburg Grand Slam in Russia, the Tbilisi Grand Prix in Georgia and the Antalya Grand Prix in Turkey.
