British Sailing Team and British Youth Sailing (RYA) have teamed up to keep kids motivated during the COVID-19 lockdown with their new project, Sail From Home.

Their new scheme looks to educate young sailors as well as inspire and entertain them when they cannot get outside.

The United Kingdom Government imposed a lockdown on its citizens on Monday after a sharp increase in confirmed cases and deaths, with over 1,000 people dying to date from over 19,000 cases in the nation.

On their YouTube channel, the British Sailing Team will have a number of home workouts for kids as well as expert sessions about specific topics with added content for members of the British Youth Sailing squads.

Sail From Home will begin tomorrow at 11am GMT with the first episode of the Monday Motivation Show, a vodcast aiming to inspire the youth with appearances from some of the nation's top sailors.

London 2012 silver medallist and two-time Olympian Luke Patience will be joined on the first episode by windsurfer Saskia Sills with both set to tell their stories.

Tuesday will see British Sailing Team meteorologist Simon Rowell give advice on weather on Tune-in Tuesday, delivering expert sessions to junior sailors in the morning and senior and youth sailors in the late afternoon.

Workout Wednesday will follow the next day in alignment with Sport England's #StayInWorkOut campaign and will be taken by University of Southampton strength and conditioning coach Chris Szedlak and will be tailored towards younger sailors.

RYA pathway head coach Oli Woodcock does not think the lockdown should stop athletes from progressing.

"We're passionate about keeping our young racing sailors motivated, engaged and inspired during these challenging times" Woodcock said.

A full timetable of events will be published on the British Sailing Team website tomorrow and shared on social media.
