The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed the postponement of all qualification events due to take place before June 30, subject to a further review.

A series of Men’s T20 World Cup qualification events have been impacted by the latest postponements due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Men’s T20 World Cup qualification events in Kuwait and Malaysia have been postponed, with the events having been due to take place in April and June, respectively.

A European qualification event in Spain from May 16 to 22 will also not go ahead.

The remaining European qualifiers in Belgium and Finland, which were both due to take place in June, will be postponed.

A sub-regional African qualification event in South Africa, scheduled from April 27 to May 3, has been impacted.

ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League Two competitions in Namibia and Papua New Guinea have also been postponed.

“In light of the significant global health concerns at the current time and the restrictions on movement imposed by governments across the world, the ICC has taken the decision to postpone all events up until the end of June subject to further review,” said Chris Tetley, ICC Head of Events.

“Our commitment to the health and safety of players, officials, staff and fans is our priority when taking these decisions and we must act responsibly in the best interests of all involved and be guided by official advice.

“We felt that now was the right time to take a prudent decision on these events before further planning is undertaken and to provide clarity to everyone involved.

“Work will continue on contingency plans and options for both men’s qualification pathways.

“We will provide updates in due course on these plans and decisions on the staging of the remaining events this year.

“I would like to thank all hosts and participating members for their support and understanding in reaching this position and we are unified in our hopes and intention to get cricket back on as soon as is safe and practical to do so.”

All remaining qualification events this year are being monitored with relevant stakeholders and members, the ICC added.

This includes Men’s T20 World Cup and 2023 Cricket World Cup qualifiers, as well as the Women’s ICC Cricket World Cup qualifier in Sri Lanka in July.

The Men’s T20 World Cup Trophy Tour will not be starting in April as originally planned by the ICC.

The governing body said they will evaluate the potential for a condensed Trophy Tour with a revised itinerary at a point closer to the event.
