An ice park has been constructed in the Chinese city of Changchun in celebration of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

The attraction was constructed in December in just over two weeks, as reported by China Daily.

Built of 300,000 cubic metres of snow, the park consists of 130 pieces of ice and snow structures.

This includes a 21 metre high Olympic torch building and a 420 metre long slide, which is awaiting certification from Guinness World Records as the highest and longest of its kind.

Changchun is the capital of Jilin province, and the park is part of an aim to make the area a winter tourism destination.

"Thanks to the 2022 Winter Olympics, we believe Jilin's ice and snow industry will achieve fast growth, and Jilin will be a world-class ice and snow tourism destination," said province secretary Bayin Chaolu.

Jilin is not hosting a Beijing 2022 event, but is participating in the Chinese Government's campaign to have 300 million people participating in winter sports by the time of the Games.
