International Rugby League (IRL) says it will not make any decision on international competitions at this stage over the coronavirus pandemic.

The governing body issued a statement to members over the current situation impacting rugby league.

IRL advised members to support and follow national Government advice, which has already led to numerous leagues being halted as efforts are made to curb the spread of coronavirus.

It also advised all players, coaches and officials to follow the advice issued to protect against the spread of the infection.

“These are complex and unprecedented circumstances and we are monitoring the situation to ensure that we support the collective response to this crisis,” said Nigel Wood, IRL's chief executive.

“We are not making any decisions about our international competitions at this stage however, we are considering all the options in case we need to make changes later in the year.”
