Ioannis Mouroutsos has been appointed as the sport director of World Taekwondo Europe (WTE).

The Greek was confirmed in the position by Sakis Pragalos, the President of WTE.

He will be tasked with various responsibilities across the management and operations of the WTE sport department, and will directly report to WTE's ruling body.

"As an outgrowth of consistent work and devotion to the sport and its development in Europe, Ioannis Mouroutsos has been appointed by Taekwondo Europe President Sakis Pragalos as sport director of WTE," the governing body said in a statement.

"Ioannis, who has extensive experience in the sport both as an athlete and as a professional, will be able to provide his knowledge, skills and capabilities towards the progress and evolution of the taekwondo in Europe.

"Taekwondo Europe wishes him prosperity upon his new challenging role within the taekwondo family and every success on these new responsibilities."
