Andrei Mozalev of Russia earned the men's title at the International Skating Union (ISU) World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Tallinn.

The 16-year-old was second in the short programme on Wednesday (March 4), overtaking Yuma Kagiyama of Japan to clinch gold after today's free skate at the Tondiraba Ice Hall.

Mozalev finished on 245.09 points, while Kagiyama, the recently crowned Winter Youth Olympic champion, took silver with 231.75. 

Petr Gumennik of Russia was the bronze medallist on 231.12. 

The women's contest also got underway with the short programme. 

Junior Grand Prix Final champion Kamila Valieva took the lead, with the Russian scoring 74.92 points. 

Lee Hae-in of South Korea was second on 70.08, followed by Daria Usacheva of Russia on 68.45. 

Competition concludes tomorrow with the women's free skate and ice dance free dance.
