Three major cycling races in Italy have been postponed due to coronavirus.

The Strade Bianche will not take place in Tuscany tomorrow because of the outbreak, and organisers have also confirmed that the Tirreno-Adriatico and Milan-San Remo will not go ahead as scheduled.

Both the men's and women's Strade Bianche are part of the International Cycling Union (UCI) World Tour and Women's World Tour respectively.

The Tirreno-Adriatico and Milan San-Remo are both part of the men's World Tour, with the former a stage race which was due to be held between March 11 and 17.

Milan-San Remo was scheduled for March 21.

All three races are organised by RCS Sport, who are hoping they will be rescheduled for later in the year.

A number of teams had already announced their intention to pull out of racing in Italy.

It followed the country, and particularly the north, becoming the nation worst-affected by coronavirus in Europe with more than 3,800 cases reported.

Nearly 150 people have died in Italy and authorities have ordered that all sport in the country take place behind closed doors until April 3.

The UCI World Tour has already been affected by the coronavirus, as the UAE Tour was cancelled mid-race due to two staff members testing positive.
