Organisers have cited a lack of snow for the preparation of the fall areas, uncertain weather forecasts, and the current situation around the spread of the coronavirus as the reasons for cancelling the event, which was due to take place at The Stoos between March 4 and 6.

Four FIS Super-G races were scheduled to take place as a test ahead of next year's Lucerne 2021 Winter Universiade, due to be held from January 21 to 31.

In a statement organisers said: "The current amount of snow on the Franz-Heinz-Piste is sufficient for the preparation of the race slope, but not for the necessary fall space for a speed race. 

"Furthermore, the weather forecast for the middle of the week is very uncertain as strong winds are also expected. 

"The current situation concerning the spread of the coronavirus has further strengthened the decision, as the FIS races are held with international participation."

Despite the cancellation of the test event, representatives of The International University Sports Federation are visiting the site to inspect the course and talk to organisers.

"We deeply regret the decision to cancel the race", Peter Fohn, President of the local Organising Committee said.

"However, the safety of the athletes and all involved parties is our top priority."
