Japan maintained their unbeaten record at the World Baseball Softball Confederation Under-18 Men's Softball World Cup as the super round concluded.

The Japanese team were assured of participating in tomorrow’s gold-medal match against Australia, regardless of the results of the final super-round ties.

Japan finished top of the standings on five wins.

Their unbeaten record was maintained after they impressively overcame the Czech Republic 8-1 at Palmerston North in New Zealand.

Australia bounced back from their loss to Japan yesterday, beating rivals New Zealand 2-0.

The Australian team will hope to gain revenge against Japan in the final tomorrow.

Argentina were in impressive form against Guatemala as they prepare for the bronze-medal contest against the Czech Republic.

Argentina were comfortable 8-1 winners to finish the super round third on three wins and two defeats.

The Czech Republic ended fourth in the standings, followed by New Zealand and winless Guatemala.

The placement round also concluded, which determined the seventh- to 12th-place finishers at the tournament.

Canada topped the standings with five wins, with Mexico ending eighth after four victories and a solitary defeat.

Singapore, South Africa and the United States ended the placement round with two wins and three losses, with Denmark ending bottom with five defeats.
