Switzerland's Maud Jayet took her first win at this year's International Laser Class Association (ILCA) Radial Women's World Championships to go top of the standings in a day that was disrupted by race cancellations in Melbourne in Australia.

The Swiss sailor continued her good form at the Sandringham Yacht Club, following on from her second-place finish yesterday behind France's Marie Barrue, moving into top spot overall having held off Belgium's Emma Plasschaert and The Netherlands' Marit Bouwmeester for the win in race two in the blue group.

The United States' Paige Railey finished fourth ahead of Ekaterina Zyuzina of Russia and Britain's Alison Young, who recovered from a poor first race to keep herself in contention for the medals.

Day two was set for three races, after one was also postponed yesterday due to winds not being strong enough, with the event now two races behind at this stage.

In the yellow group, favourite and defending champion, Denmark's Anne-Marie Rindom, could not replicate her win from yesterday, but still made the top three after finishing behind the winner, Tuula Tenkanen of Finland and second place Line Flem Høst of Norway.

Tenkanen's win was a massive recovery after finishing 37th on day one and now sits in 36th in the standings with Høst in 13th after barely making the top 20 yesterday.

Japan's Manami Doi added a fourth place finish to her sixth from yesterday to put her in the top five overall and finished ahead of Guatemala's Isabella Maegli who improved a lot from yesterday to finish fifth.

Greece's Vasileia Karachaliou, second yesterday, continued her good form in sixth, while yesterday's third place, Germany's Svenja Weger had a nightmare second race placing down in 26th.

The overall standings see Jayet lead Rindom by a point and Bouwmeester in third, with all three making the podium in both races so far.

Karachaliou follows with the improved pair of Doi and Plasschaert.

Yesterday's blue group winner, Barrue, dropped down to 12th after finishing 20th in race two while the top host sailor Mina Ferguson is 14th.
