The Hungarian fencer had celebrated gold in the men’s sabre category A event yesterday at the Hotel Eger and Park.

His pursuit of back-to-back gold medals was boosted when he upset second seed Andrii Demchuk of Ukraine 15-5 in the semi-finals.

The result set up a meeting with top seed Emanuele Lambertini of Italy, who had won his semi-final 15-7 against Russia’s Oleg Gavrilenkov.

Osvath emerged as the winner of the final, with the Hungarian clinching a gold by beating Lambertini 15-8.

Both the women’s sabre category A and B competitions were also decided on the second day of the event.

Poland’s Kinga Drozdz triumphed in the women’s category A event, with the top seed overcoming Ukraine’s Nataliia Morkvych 15-11 in the final.

Bronze medals were awarded to Italy’s Nino Tibiashvili and Ukraine’s Yevheniia Breus, who suffered semi-final defeats.

Ukraine’s Olena Fedota emerged as the winner of the category B sabre competition.

She secured a comfortable 15-3 win over Russia’s Irina Mishurova in the gold-medal bout.

The podium was completed by Hungary’s Boglarka Mezö and Italy’s Rossanna Paquino.

The men’s épée category B competition was won by Brazil’s Jovana Guissone.

The London 2012 Paralympic champion beat France’s Yannick Ifebe 15-8 in the final.

Ifebe’s fellow Frenchman Yohan Peter won the first bronze medal, with the second going to Russia’s Alexander Kurzin.

Individual competitions will conclude tomorrow, with the team event scheduled for Sunday (February 16).
