A delegation from the National Olympic Committee of Iraq (NOCI) has met with International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach in Lausanne.

NOCI President Raad Hammoodi Salman Al-Dulaimi led the group on its visit to IOC headquarters.

He was joined by a number of politicians, including Abbas Oleiwi Kadhim, chair of the Youth and Sport Committee of the Iraqi Parliament.

The two parties discussed various topics linked to sport in Iraq, the new sports law in the country and preparations for this year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The IOC delegation included Olympic Solidarity representatives to discuss the various projects and initiatives available to the NOCI.

The nation's sole medal was won at Rome 1960.

Weightlifter Abdul Wahid Aziz claimed bronze in the men's lightweight event.
