The Agitos Foundation opened nominations for the I'mPOSSIBLE Award, which will be given during the Closing Ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

For the first time, three schools – two from Japan and one from overseas – that have fully utilised the Agitos Foundation's I’mPOSSIBLE education programme will be recognised during the Closing Ceremony on September 6.

Two Paralympians – one woman and one man – will also receive awards in recognition of their contribution to the International Paralympic Committee's (IPC) vision of making for an inclusive world through Para-sport.

The award has been established by the Agitos Foundation and the IPC, and is supported by the Nippon Foundation Paralympic Support Centre.

All National Paralympic Committees (NPC) are invited to nominate one male and one female Paralympian for the award via an online nomination form.

The deadline for nominating athletes is February 24.

The 31 NPCs signed up to the I'mPOSSIBLE terms of use agreement before December are eligible to nominate a school for the award.

This is also through an online nomination form, with February 29 the deadline.

Nominations for all categories will be evaluated by a selection committee in March 2020.

The I’mPOSSIBLE Award recipients will be invited to the Tokyo 2020 Closing Ceremony to receive the accolade on stage, while the award-winning Paralympians will be recognised and involved in the programme as I’mPOSSIBLE ambassadors for the next four years.

As of January 2020, 32 countries from all over the world have signed agreements to implement the programme.

In 2019, 77,238 children and 1204 teachers were reached by I’mPOSSIBLE.
