Complexity Gaming won their first FIFA eClub World Cup after a penalty shootout with Gareth Bale's new team, Ellevens.

In the first leg of the final, Complexity Gaming dominated their opponents in a 2-0 win while the second leg went the opposite way with Ellevens victorious 2-1.

A penalty shootout would confirm the winner after the third game went to extra time and remained goalless.

In the shoot-out, Complexity saved Ellevens last penalty in a 2-1 victory.

The prize money of $40,000 (£31,000, €36,500) will be shared between their two players, Joksan "Joksan" Redona and Max "MaXe vip" Popov.

At the start of the day in the quarter-finals, Ellevens, the team recently taken over by Real Madrid footballer Bale, ended the hopes of Nasr eSports after they knocked out one of the favourites, Hashtag United, in the last 16.

Over the three legs, the team came out 4-1 winners, ending the underdog story of their Middle Eastern counterparts.

There were no surprises in Fnatic’s matches with Borussia-E-Sports as they prevailed 6-3, keeping the favourites in the competition, and setting up the semi-final with Ellevens.

On the other end of the bracket, AS Roma and Complexity Gaming would also meet after both sides won 5-2 against Sporting CP and NEO respectively.

In that semi-final, Complexity came out as clear victors in a 4-1 win, setting up the final with Ellevens who defeated early favourites Fnatic 6-3 after losing the first game 3-0.

Complexity, who were dark horses in the competition, looked good in their group, and then knocked out top teams NEO and AS Roma on their way to the title.
