Former team-mates nicolas99fc and Tekkz both had good days with their new teams FC Basel 1893 eSports and Fnatic

The first day of the FIFA eClub World Cup started with upsets as some of the top sides suffered shock defeats in Milan in Italy.

In the early games, Team QLASH were rocked twice by underdogs, Nasr eSports in back-to-back defeats, despite having world number one, Diego "CRAZY_FAT_GAMER" Campagnani on their side.

Heading into a tough group, Fnatic have won eight out of their nine matches so far in Group C, with a win from their last six group matches tomorrow being enough to progress to the last 16.

As Roma sit a distant second nine points behind on 15, with a terrific second-half session from Redemption eSports, who won all three of their last matches to move into a comfortable third.

Nasr eSports’ two wins have came against Team QLASH, but they’ve been hard to beat, only losing twice with five draws, also fairly comfortable in fourth.

Austria Wien and Team QLASH have it all to do tomorrow with both sides losing all three of their last matches and sitting five points off fourth place.

Fnatic smashed QLASH three times to keep their opponents firmly in the elimination zone – somewhere they could not have imagined they would be at this stage in the tournament.

In Group A, FaZe Clan also find themselves unexpectedly in the elimination zone having only picked up eight points, joint bottom of the table with Nordavind DNB.

Hashtag United overcame a slow start to usurp close rival NEO at the top with one point separating them.

Olympique Lyonnais have been caught slightly by the bottom two as they sit a point above elimination in fourth and Gillette Infinty Esports have a three-point cushion to both second and fourth going into tomorrow.

There was no surprise that FC Basel 1893 eSports dominated in Group B, going unbeaten in their first five matches, finishing the day with five wins, three draws and a defeat.

Gareth Bale’s new team, Ellevens, currently sit in second after a tough start - but they are only two points above the elimination zone.

This is due to three teams being on 11 points with surprise package Mkers and Borussia-E-Sports both above Movistar Riders on goal difference.

Blue United eFC sat on zero after five games but only lost one of their last four games, but they are still six points from safety.

Group D is incredibly tight with only eight points separating first and last, but Complexity Gaming ahead of R288 and Sporting CP Esports who are both two behind.

Two points away from second and third and two above the elimination zone are Team FW AU, who are four away from top and bottom.

Manchester City eSports have surprisingly struggled so far and find themselves, along with DUX Gaming, in the elimination zone after nine games on nine and seven points respectively.

Day two consists of final group matches before the last 16 knockout round whittles the teams down to eight.
