Six days of competition are scheduled at the African Wrestling Championships, which begin in Algiers tomorrow.

Action will take place in senior, junior and cadet categories in Algeria's capital, at the La Coupole d'Alger venue.

Names to watch out for include Nigeria's Odunayo Adekuoroye, the only African to win a medal at last year's World Championships in Nur-Sultan in Kazakhstan.

She claimed a share of bronze in the women's 57 kilograms division, and has three World Championship medals in all.

Adekuoroye is also a double Commonwealth Games gold medallist.

Marwa Amri, the only African medallist at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, is also due to compete.

The Tunisian was one of two bronze medallists in Brazil in the women's 58kg.

She also boasts a silver medal from the 2017 World Championships in Paris.

Egypt topped the medals table at the 2019 African Championships, held in Hammamet in Tunisia.

Algerian Wrestling Federation President Rabah Chebbah told the Algeria Press Service he wanted better from his country this year after they came fourth last time.

Cadet competitions begin the Championships tomorrow.
