The Austrian, second in yesterday’s night event, cleared 139 metres in his first jump to lead after round one.

He matched that distance with his second jump to claim what is only his second individual win of the season.

A huge jump of 142m in the final round was enough to lift Stephan Leyhe of Germany into second place, while Ryoyu Kobayashi gave the home fans something to celebrate by finishing third.

Kraft’s final points total - 268.5 - was more than 20 clear of Leyhe’s total of 247.4.

Victorious yesterday, Japan’s Yukiya Sato had to settle for 16th place and Karl Geiger - Kraft’s main rival in the overall standings - came fifth.

The German Geiger had been third following the first round of jumps, while Poland’s Dawid Kubacki fell from second after qualifying to a sixth-place finish.

Kraft recorded back-to-back victories at this venue a year ago.

The top four in the overall World Cup standings remain in the same order, with Kraft now on 1,063 points - 63 ahead of Geiger.

Kubacki has 924 points and Kobayashi 907.

Fifth-place Kamil Stoch is well adrift on 613.

Willingen in Germany is the next stop on the World Cup schedule, with competition running from February 7 to 9.
