Chiara Hoelzl of Austria took the lead in the International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup standings after triumphing in the Romanian town of Rasnov.

The 22-year-old had topped yesterday's qualifying event, today scoring a total of 247.6 points to earn gold. 

Having reached 89.0 metres in her first jump, her second jump of 99.0m was enough to see Hoelzl triumph. 

Katharina Althaus of Germany, Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic silver medallist, finished second on 245.7.

Another Austrian, Eva Pinkelnig, was in third place after scoring 240.8, continuing her recent run of podium finishes. 

Hoelzl's victory was enough to see her move to the top of the overall World Cup standings from third, overtaking Pinkelnig and Maren Lundby of Norway with a total of 570 points. 

Pinkelnig is just one point behind her compatriot, while reigning Olympic champion Lundby slipped down to third on 555 points after a fifth place finish in today's contest.

A second event on the HS 97 hill is scheduled for tomorrow, when competition concludes.
