Defending champion Julie Forrest beat fellow Scot Lorna Cameron today to book her place in the women's singles semi-finals at the World Indoor Bowls Championships in Norfolk.

Forrest triumphed 11-4, 7-2 in her opening singles match at Potters Leisure Resort's International Arena.

Next up for her is the Guernsey's Alison Merrien, who defeated England's Devon Cooper 8-4, 7-10, 2-0.

Also through to the last four is England's Janice Gower after she overcame New Zealand's Rhonda Adams 6-7, 13-2, 2-1.

Standing between her and a place in the final is compatriot Nicole Rogers, a 10-3, 7-6 winner over Wales' Marion Purcell.

Both semi-finals are due to take place on January 22.

Action in Norfolk is scheduled to continue tomorrow.

The mixed pairs semi-finals will be preceded by the open singles match between Wales' Jason Greenslade and Australia's Brendan Egan.
