The Lucerne 2021 Winter Universiade Organising Committee announced Leister, maxon and Kässbohrer as supporting partners. 

The Obwalden-based company maxon develops and manufactures electric drive systems worldwide, with some of their motors used for propulsion systems for NASA Mars rovers. 

Leister AG is also based in the canton of Obwalden, and is the global market leader for plastic welding equipment.

German company Kässbohrer manufactures snow-groomer vehicles, as well as leading in piste and cross-country ski track maintenance.

All three companies are now supporting partners for Lucerne 2021, scheduled for January 21 to 31.

Around 1,600 athletes from approximately 50 countries are expected to compete across 10 sports. 

The International University Sports Federation's Winter Universiade Supervision Committee confirmed that preparations were going well after visiting Lucerne last month.
