Shaun Norris has been crowned International Paralympic Committee Allianz Athlete of the Month for November, after leading Australia to the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation Asia Oceania Championships title in Pattaya.

The 34-year-old averaged 15.9 points per game in the Thai city, helping Australia also secure a spot at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Norris received 41 per cent of the public vote.

He became the fastest blade runner in history with a new world men's 100 metres record of 10.54sec in the T62 class at the World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai.

Japanese track-and-field athlete Maya Nakanishi was third with 24 per cent.

The 34-year-old stunned the field when she triumphed in the women's long jump T64 final at the World Para Athletics Championships, winning her first global crown.

Dutch wheelchair tennis player Diede de Groot came fourth in the vote, while Brazilian sprinter Petrúcio Ferreira ranked fifth.
