Margarita Noskova of Russia won the women's snowboard cross event at the Winter Deaflympics in the Italian resort of Sondrio.

Noskova finished in front of Lisa Zoerweg of Austria and home favourite Erica Dugnani at Rifugio Bellavista.

Her victory continued Russia's success at the event.

Russia are top of the medals table with 11 gold, eight silver and seven bronze. 

Tomas Pazdera of Czech Republic triumphed in the men's snowboard cross.

Russia claimed the silver and bronze medal, with Aiexey Ignatenko finishing second and Stanislav Sokolov third.

It was an all-Russian podium in the women's cross-country skiing competition as Anna Fedulova won the 3.5 kilometre race in 8min 43.07sec.

Lyubov Misharina took silver in 9:04.04, while the bronze medal went to Tatyana Gorbunova in 9:23.09. 

In the men’s 5km, Dmytro Mazhaiev of Ukraine emerged victorious with a time of 13:24.0.

Second place was secured by compatriot Andriy Andriyishyn in 13:24.1, while Vladimir Mayorov of Russia finished third in 13:35.1.

Elsewhere, the chess competition continued at Hotel Aurora and the preliminary round of the curling carried on at Circolo Sciatori Madesimo.
