The first international seminar on the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games is set to begin tomorrow.

Two days of meetings, debates and presentations will be structured through an "articulated" programme, according to organisers.

It will involve all the main protagonists of the winning project which brought the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics to Italy, with Milan-Cortina having been selected at the 134^th IOC Session in Lausanne in June.

Representing the IOC will be the Finnish chair of the Coordination Commission, Sari Essayah, making her debut in Italy in the role she took up last month.

She will be accompanied by IOC Olympic Games executive director Christophe Dubi.

Among those representing Milan-Cortina 2026 will be CONI President Giovanni Malagò and Italian Paralympic Committee counterpart Luca Pancalli.

They will be joined by the Mayors of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Giuseppe Sala and Gianpietro Ghedina, as well as the Presidents of the Lombardy and Veneto regions, Attilio Fontana and Luca Zaia, and Presidents of the Trento and Bolzano provinces, Maurizio Fugatti and Arno Kompatscher.

The speakers will include Olympic champions such as short track speed skater Arianna Fontana, cross-country skier Gabriella Paruzzi, luger Armin Zöggeler, sprint canoeist Antonio Rossi and fencer Diana Bianchedi, along with 10-time Paralympian Francesca Porcellato and Alpine skier Giorgio Rocca.

Vincenzo Novari, who was named chief executive of Milan-Cortina 2026 last month and will take up the role once the Organising Committee has been fully established, will be in attendance.

Milan-Cortina beat Stockholm–Åre for the right to host the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

Beijing is set to stage the next edition of the quadrennial event in 2022.
