USA Taekwondo has announced its Poomsae Grand Slam Final will take place in Colorado Springs in January.

The national governing body said the event would be held at the National Center of Excellence from January 18 to 20.

Athletes who win gold at the event will be eligible to represent the United States at the World Poomsae Championships in Herning, Denmark in May.

USA Taekwondo recently held a qualification competition for the Poomsae Grand Slam Final.

The event was staged at the Chapel Hills Mall in Colorado Springs and forms part of the process to determine the athletes who will compete at the Grand Slam Final in early 2020.

USA Taekwondo designated the event as a "phase two" qualifier.

It gave athletes the chance to progress to "phase three" of the qualification system.

Also invited to the Poomsae Grand Slam Final will be the top four athletes from 2019 Nationals in the world-class poomsae divisions.

They will be eligible only in the divisions for which they placed in the first four.
