World Taekwondo have praised the strong turnout of athletes at the World Military Games in Wuhan.

The governing body revealed taekwondo had the second largest number of athletes present at the Games run by the International Military Sports Council (CISM).

A total of 186 men and 85 women competed in the taekwondo events at the Games, representing 48 countries.

The competitions were supported by 150 officials.

CISM President Colonel Hervé Piccirillo met with World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue during the Games in the Chinese city.

He praised the large number of taekwondo athletes who participated during the Games, which is due to conclude tomorrow.

Taekwondo competition finished today. 

World Taekwondo referenced a Memorandum of Understanding between the governing body and the CISM, which was signed in May.

The agreement saw the organisations pledge to increase collaboration, including by upgrading the level of taekwondo competitions.

Further support to help training and education of taekwondo officials within the CISM was also included as part of the agreement.

Taekwondo was one of 27 sports on the programme at the seventh edition of the World Military Games.

Taekwondo has featured at the last four editions of the Games, which is held every four years.
