Switzerland won an exciting sprint relay at the International Orienteering Federation World Cup final in Guangzhou. 

They beat Sweden and Norway with the decisive point in the race coming in the middle of the final leg.

Sweden 1 led throughout the race until the tricky middle part of the final leg with many walls, small entrances and steps, where careful route choice was necessary. 

Elena Roos for Switzerland 1 had the cleanest run through as well as the shorter forking as Karolin Ohlsson for Sweden 1 made several mistakes and lost more than a minute as her team faded to eighth. 

Roos crossed the line in 55min 14sec to start the celebrations with team-mates Simona Aebersold, Matthias Kyburz and Joey Hadorn.

Sara Hagstrom for Sweden 2, who had set out in fifth place, ran quite cleanly through this section along with the young Norwegian Andrine Benjaminsen.

It was Hagstrom who proved the stronger of these two through the final controls to earn the silver medal 37 seconds behind Switzerland. 

She was joined on the podium by Alva Olsson, Max Peter Bejmer and Martin Regborn.

Norway's team of ictoria Haestad Bjornstad, Gaute Hallan Steiwer, Kasper Fosser and Benjaminsen took the bronze, a further eight seconds back.

The final race of this final is due to be the individual sprint on Tuesday (October 29).
