Vitidsarn beat France's Yanis Gaudin 21-12, 21-12 in round three of the men's singles, while Chaiwan defeated South Korea's Na Rin Lee 21-13, 21-13 in round two of the women's singles in Kazan.

Next up for Vitidsarn at the Kazan Gymnastics Centre in the Russian city is New Zealand's Edward Lau, who overcame Sri Lanka's Lochana de Silva 21-15, 21-11.

Standing between Chaiwan and a place in round three is India's Unnati Bisht, a 21-17, 21-16 victor at the expense of Czech Republic's Kateřina Mikelová.

Three seeded players suffered elimination from the men's singles today, in fifth-ranked Syabda Perkasa Belawa of Indonesia, seventh-ranked Meiraba Luwang of India and 11th-ranked Tomas Toledano of Spain.

Luwang fell to a 16-21, 11-21 defeat to Chinese Taipei's Su Li Yang and there were three-set losses for Belawa and Toledano against Hong Kong's Jason Gunawan and India's Rohan Gurbani, respectively.

Belawa was beaten 21-11, 17-21, 13-21 and Toledano was defeated 21-16, 14-21, 21-23.

The top 14 seeds in the women's singles all advanced to round three today, with those ranked 15th and 16th - Belgium's Clara Lassaux and Switzerland's Milena Schnider - both having crashed out yesterday.
