Two-time world junior champion Rowan Elaraby claimed the biggest scalp of her career after beating world number six Joelle King in the third round of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) US Open Squash Championships.

The Egyptian rising star showed her intent from the start as she won the opening game at Drexel University Daskalakis Athletic Center, Philadelphia.

New Zealand's King looked to be back in control when she took the next two games, only for Elaraby to raise her level once more at the PSA World Tour Platinum event.

World number 31 Elaraby survived two match balls before winning the fourth game and closing out a superb 11-7, 7-11, 2-11, 12-10, 11-8 triumph.

"I'm out of words," Elaraby said.

"I'm really happy with how I played and how I managed to go through the match.

"I can’t believe it.

"I feel as though what I was working on in the off-season has been paying off now."

World number three Nour El Tayeb awaits Elaraby in the last eight after she defeated compatriot and reigning world junior champion Hania El Hammamy 11-7, 11-7, 11-8.
