Denmark lost a pair of men's seeds as round two matches were played at the Badminton World Federation Korea Open.

Fifth seed Anders Antonsen, the runner-up at last month's World Championships, was brushed aside 21-15, 21-6 by Chinese Taipei's Wang Tzu-wei at Incheon Airport Skydome.

His compatriot and seventh seed Viktor Axelsen also exited the tournament as he was beaten 21-18, 21-16 by Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia.

Axelsen, the 2017 world champion, was playing only his second tournament since returning from an injury lay-off which had kept him out since July.

There was better luck for Denmark as Jan Ø. Jørgensen knocked out Indonesia's eighth seed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, the 2017 Korean Open champion.

Jørgensen triumphed 17-21, 21-16, 21-13 to reach the quarter-finals.

He was joined by Japan's top seed and back-to-back world champion Kento Momota, who continued his excellent run by beating South Korean qualifier Kim Dong-hun 21-12, 21-9.

Chinese Taipei's second seed and defending champion Chou Tien-chen progressed from a see-saw battle against Japan's Kenta Nishimoto, 21-10, 16-21, 21-14.

In the women's event, China's second seed Chen Yufei is the best ranked player left in after Japan's top seed Akane Yamaguchi retired injured yesterday.

Chen beat South Korea's Kim Hyo-min 23-13, 21-11.

Third seed Tai Tzu-ying of Chinese Taipei knocked out China's Cai Yanyan 21-11, 21-11 and Japan's fourth seed and defending champion Nozomi Okuhara ousted South Korean Sung Ji-hyun 21-13, 21-18.

American Beiwen Zheng, who upset India's reigning world champion PV Sindhu yesterday, will go no further after a 21-15, 8-21, 21-10 reverse to Canada's Michelle Li.

Thailand's 2013 world champion Ratchanok Intanon thrashed Japan's Aya Ohori 21-4, 21-13 to book her place in the last eight.
