The Russians downed The Netherlands today at Toyama City Gymnasium, 26-24, 25-18, 25-20.

Brazil beat hosts Japan 25-14, 25-21, 25-23 in Sapporo to go level with the Dutch on five wins and three defeats.

World champions Serbia slipped to four wins and four defeats after a surprise reverse to South Korea in Toyama, 25-21, 25-18, 15-25, 25-23.

Argentina recorded a second win as they beat winless Cameroon after recovering from two sets down.

The thrilling clash in Toyama ended 21-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 15-12.
