The Norwegian Ski Association (NSB) has hosted a "Ski Leaders of Tomorrow" seminar in Holmenkollen to develop the next generation of female officials.

The seminar was supported by Norwegian energy company Equinor, a long-term supporter of the NSB.

A total of 75 female participants from 21 nations received advice from experts.

International Ski Federation (FIS) secretary general Sarah Lewis was among the speakers, along with NSB President Erik Røste and Norwegian ski jumping coach Alexander Stöckl.

The trio spoke about their personal development and lessons learned throughout their careers, before taking part in a Q&A session.

Lewis also gave a presentation on efforts made by the FIS to boost gender equality, among the key themes of the seminar.

"It was tremendous to experience the engagement and enthusiasm of all the participants at the Ski Leaders of Tomorrow Seminar at Holmenkollen," she said.

"The Norwegian Ski Association has supported FIS actions to improve gender equity in snow sports internationally and are leading the way with their national programme.

"By opening the seminar to all nations, we hope that other National Ski Associations will also undertake similar positive activities to encourage and create pathways for female coaches, managers and leaders in their nations."

The three-day seminar also included discussions on coaching and sports administration.

Marius Arnesen, former Alpine head coach of the Norwegian men's team, and eight-time Olympic cross-country skiing gold medallist Marit Bjørgen were among the presenters.

The duo spoke about the NSB culture and how it had been key to their success.

"The programme 'Ski Leaders of Tomorrow' is part of a larger effort to improve the gender balance in Norwegian snow sports," said Røste.

"As a major winter sports nation, we want to contribute to the international community.

"Things can be improved through openness and exchange of experience – and that was the goal of this weekend.”
