The Cambodia Taekwondo Federation has hailed its athletes for winning 15 medals at the recent World Taekwondo Hanmadang in South Korea.

Three Cambodian taekwondo players each returned from the Hanmadang, the name for a festival of the sport, with five medals.

Chun Kim Hak earned four gold medals and a silver, Samnang Vanneth took three gold medals, one silver and one bronze, and Sok Seng won three gold medals, a silver and a bronze.

The event was held at the Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo headquarters and attracted around 5,000 participants.

Cambodia participated after receiving taekwondo uniforms and equipment in February.

The country was given $24,000 (£19,700/€22,000) development funding by World Taekwondo and the Asia Development Foundation in March.

Scholarships for 33 selected university students were also provided to Hang Chuon Naron, Cambodia's Minister for Education, Youth and Sport, at a ceremony at the Education Ministry in Phnom Penh.

World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue had delivered a development fund to the CTF last November.
