Home favourite Nikolaos Plytas Iliadis claimed the men's tricks gold medal, as water skiing took centre stage at the Mediterranean Beach Games in Greek city Patras.

Plytas Iliadis scored a total 7,100 points at the Hera venue to improve on his third-place finish at the inaugural edition of the multi-sport event in Pescara, Italy, in 2015. 

The silver medal went to France's Tanguy Dailland with 6,890 points, and the bronze to compatriot Alexandre Poteau with 5,260.

In the women's tricks event, France's Camille Poulain Ferarios came out on top with 3,150 points.

Italy's Greta Tagliati finished second with 2,860 points, while Greece's Angeliki Andriopoulou came third with 2,620.

Action in Patras concludes tomorrow.
