Mike Thomas has been elected for another four-year term as President of the International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF).

The British official first took on the role in 2015 and was voted back in at the organisation's Congress, held alongside the World Championships which concluded in Pattaya in Thailand yesterday.

Other roles were also confirmed with Alan van Caubergh set to continue as treasurer and Melanie Cantwell keeping her position as chair of the Competition and Technical Commission.

Bridget Walter will serve as chair of the Medical and Sports Science Commission and Belinda Chung will lead the Marketing and Media Commission.

He Yi will be the chair for Protocol, Culture and Heritage.

Other decisions taken at the Congress included the awarding of the 2023 World Championships to Spanish city Seville.

The 2022 Club Crew World Championships will take place in Sarasota in the United States.

Three new countries were accepted as IDBF members – Cambodia, Bahrain and Mauritius.
