De Lange had already triumphed in the Olympic distance competition, 30 kilometres, two days ago in Casablanca.

The Namibian doubled his tally in the marathon event, held over double the distance at 60km.

He crossed the line in a winning time of 1 hour, 53min and 11.3sec, after winning a duel with Mauritian Yannick Lincoln.

Lincoln eventually finished 11 seconds behind the winner to take the silver medal.

Bronze was earned by Namibia's Alexander Miller in a time of 2:01:03.

Mauritius enjoyed a one-two in the women's event, with Kimberley Le Court and Aurelie Halbwachs dominating the race.

Le Court would clinch gold by finishing in 2:28:43, with Halbwachs 45 seconds behind to take her second silver medal of the Games.

The podium was rounded off by Kenya's Nancy Debe in 2:29.58.

South Africa would enjoy a dominant day in the pool, with Erin Gallagher, Ryan Coetzee, Alaric Basson and Kaylene Corbett earning swimming titles.

Gallagher claimed the women's 50 metres backstroke title, finishing in 29.05 seconds, with Seychelles' Felicite Passona and Botswana's Naomi Ruele completing the podium in 29.17 and 29.22 respectively.

The men's 100m butterfly title was won by Coetzee in 53.70, with Basson and Morocco's Yusuf Tibazi finishing in 53.88 and 53.89 to take silver and bronze respectively.

Basson would clinch gold in the next final, as the South African clocked 2:14.21 in the 200m breaststroke.

Egypt's Youssef Elkamash and Tunisia’s Adnan Beji rounded off the top three.

The women's race saw Corbett add to South Africa's swimming haul, winning in a time of 2:29.23.

She was followed by her team-mate Christin Mundell in 2:35.30, with Egypt's Rawan Eldamaty third in 2:38.22.
