Reigning world champion Caitlin Connor of the United States leads the standings after the first day of women's skeet qualification at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun World Cup in Lahti.

The 28-year-old, who triumphed at last year's ISSF World Championships in South Korean city Changwon, ended the first three rounds on a total of 73 points at the Finnish city's Hälvälä Sport Shooting Center.

Chile's Francisca Crovetto Chadid, the silver medallist at the 2019 Pan American Games in Peru's capital Lima earlier this month, occupies second spot with 70 points.

That is the same total as third-placed Martina Bartolomei of Italy.

Tomorrow will see the second part of qualification take place as well as the final.

Men's skeet qualification is also due to begin, with the event concluding on Thursday (August 22).

A total of 473 athletes from 76 nations are competing at the ISSF Shotgun World Cup.
