Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam is ready to host the second edition of the Asian Taekwondo Open Championships with four days of competition set to begin tomorrow.
Sports Stadium – Military Zone No. 7 will provide the setting for the event, due to conclude on Sunday (August 18).
Senior poomsae competition is scheduled to be held tomorrow before senior kyorugi competition takes centre stage on Friday (August 16).
Kyorugi team competition will be spread across Saturday (August 17) and Sunday.
Among the countries that will be represented at the World Taekwondo G1 official ranking tournament are the Philippines, who according to the Philippine Star will have 29 athletes present.
Seventeen of the Filipinos will vie in kyorugi, while 12 will compete in poomsae.
A total of 34 other countries such as China, Chinese Taipei, Iran, South Korea and Thailand have entered the event.
The Philippine Sports Commission and Philippine Olympic Committee are supporting the trip of the players, who are also preparing for the Southeast Asian Games to be held in the country from November 30 to December 11.
