After no races were possible yesterday due to the light and unpredictable winds, competition was able to resume today at Saint Petersburg's Neva Bay.

Although there was still only a light breeze, between four and six knots, the fact it remained in a steady direction allowed officials to decide fair and competitive racing could be held.

The men's competition is being dominated by Israeli windsurfers, with compatriots Zror, Daniel Tashtash and Reuven Hillel making up the top three.

Zror endured a dip in form - having finished in the top three in his six previous races, he came fifth, fifth and ninth today - but his previous strong showings mean he leads on 23 points.

Tashtash came second in the first two races of the day, but mistakes in the final event meant he missed the chance to overtake Zror and is second on 25.

Hillel was also let down from one race in three as he won the opening event and came second in the final contest, but seventh place in race number two puts him on 27 points.

Reigning champion Fabien Pianazza of France won the second and third races today but is fifth overall on 37 points and is very unlikely to defend his crown.

His sister Manon is having a much more productive championship, although the Frenchwoman is still yet to win a race so far.

Pianazza's consistency - a top three finish in seven of nine races - has proved crucial, and a run of second, second and third today keeps her top on 21 points.

Russia's Yana Reznikova is well poised to pounce on any errors after two wins today on home water put her second overall with 24 points.

Israel's Naama Greenberg picked up a victory between Reznikova's two triumphs, and is third overall on 29 points, with compatriot Linoy Geva, on 35, the only other windsurfer in a position to challenge for the podium.

Tomorrow sees the top 10 in both the men's and women's events race for the medals, and with double points on offer, there is everything to sail for.
