Peruvian surfers featured in all of the six surfing finals, giving the home crowd at Punta Rocas something to cheer about. 

Rosas was the victor in the women's open surfing, scoring 13.94 points to surpass Dominic Barona of Ecuador with 12.50.

"I feel amazing, too happy," she said.

"I am feeling speechless right now.”

Ornella Pellizzari of Argentina finished as the the bronze medallist. 

The men's title went to Luca Mesinas, with the Peruvian scoring 14.00 points to edge past Argentina's Leandro Usana on 13.77.

Bryan Perez of El Salvador completed the podium.

Rosas and Mesinas will now represent Peru at Tokyo 2020, with surfing set to make its Olympic debut at next year's event. 

Benoit Clemente earned the host's third gold medal, winning the men's longboard with a dominant score of 19.13.

He beat Uruguay's Julian Schweizer, who could only manage 11.73 in the final, with Cole Robbins of the United States the bronze medallist. 

Brazil's Chloe Calmon triumphed in the women's longboard as she defeated home favourite Maria Fernanda Reyes in the final, scoring 15.36 to the Peruvian's 12.76.

In third place was Mathea Dempfle-Olin of Canada.

Two surf stand-up paddle finals took place in the morning, with Colombia’s Isabella Gomez the gold medallist in the women's event on 10.73.

Peru's Vania Torres finished with silver on 9.94, while Brazil's Nicole Pacelli received bronze. 

Giorgio Gomez completed the double for Colombia, taking the men’s title after beating Peru’s Tamil Martino by scoring 17.33, with his rival ending on 14.70.

America's Daniel Hughes rounded off the podium.

Brazil's Pedro Gonçalves and Ana Satila claimed two gold medals each in canoe slalom.

Gonçalves recorded the winning time of 85.81secs to win the men's K1, with Argentina's Lucas Rossi just behind him on 86.23 and Canada's Keenan Simpson third in 88.45.

He then topped the podium again in the K1 extreme slalom, with Joshua Jason of the US second and Canada's Keenan Simpson third.

Satila was the victor in the women's K1 extreme slalom, defeating America's Evy Leibfarth and Mexico's Sofia Reinoso. 

Earlier, she had triumphed in the women's C1, finsihing in 95.35.

Canada's Lois Betteridge was a significant distance behind her in 102.95, while Michaela Corcoran of the US completed the podium with 105.73.

Elsewhere, Argentina enjoyed success in team events, acheiving gold in the men's volleyball after easing past Cuba 25-20, 25-17, 25-20.

Bronzes went Brazil, who beat Chile in straight sets.

The Argentinian men's team then took basketball gold, overcoming Puerto Rico 84-66. 

The bronze medal went to the US after they narrowly defeated Dominican Republic 92-83.
